Ridi Releases Debut Single and Video “Top Guy”

Today we want to introduce a brand new music artist who is not only talented but has an unique background and an amazing story that we should listen to.v

Ridi has been compared to the likes of Lorde, Fiona Apple, and Billie Eilish — all artists who have shown the music industry they are wise beyond their years both artistically and otherwise.

In the single, the European singer of Indian descent utilizes her voice to tackle themes of inclusivity and shed light on how lives can be devastated by those with narrowminded and spiteful intentions, issues she’s had firsthand experience with for far too long in her young life.

Written and composed by Ridi, the single’s Paris-based video, directed by Sylvain Bressollette (Indila: Dernière Danse), is a sobering view of the all-too prevalent prejudices occurring in the world — a powerful look at any teenager’s worst nightmare from the perspective of a recipient of the verbal and cyber abuse.

Daughter of a billionaire businessman, Ridi attended one of the most expensive private schools in the world, the Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland, where she was subjected to a continuous barrage of racially charged discrimination and hateful verbal attacks, which the courageous young teen spoke out against. This resulted in Ridi being expelled as a misfired reaction from the school, a move that ultimately backfired with the school being criticized as negligent by world renowned academics and doctors such as US based Dr. Sameer Hinduja and European Dr. Eric Debarbieux. There is also an ongoing lawsuit against the school by the family.

In an effort to help millions of others around the world in similar situations embrace their own individuality and heal from the hate, Ridi and her sister, Vasudhara Oswal, co-founded the non-profit “Stop the B” (https://stoptheb.com) in October 2020.

“Stop the B” has earned Ridi the endorsements of famed footballer Ronaldinho, world-renowned independent academics, as well as an invitation to speak at the UNESCO World Anti-Bullying Forum in Sweden in November 2021, honoring Ridi and her sister with the distinction of being the youngest participants to ever speak at the esteemed event.
